Job Description

First Watch is a premier daytime dining restaurant known for its commitment to serving made-to-order breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes crafted with the freshest ingredients. Established as the leading brand in its niche, First Watch operates over 630 locations across 32 states, reimagining daytime dining with a menu guided by its unique "Follow the Sun" culinary philosophy. This philosophy ensures that the menu cycles periodically throughout the year to highlight seasonal flavors at their peak, offering guests elevated versions of classic favorites and innovative dishes such as the Kale Tonic juice, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Quinoa Power Bowl, and the signature Million Dollar Bacon. Beyond culinary excellence, First Watch is deeply invested in giving back to the community—donating a portion of every kid's meal served to various organizations and causes, contributing approximately $2 million to date.

Apart from its outstanding food and community involvement, First Watch prides itself on its YOU FIRST culture, which places employees' wellbeing at the forefront of its operational priorities. This culture reflects the company’s belief that happy and empowered team members deliver exceptional customer experiences. Unlike many restaurants, First Watch ensures no night shifts ever for its employees, creating a healthy work-life balance for its team. Employees are empowered with the autonomy to make decisions that enhance the customer dining experience. The organization has received considerable recognition, including the #1 Best Breakfast award by Newsweek's Readers' Choice Awards 2025 and multiple years being named the #1 Most Loved Workplace in America by the Best Practice Institute.

The Back-of-the-House Cook position at First Watch is integral to maintaining the high quality and consistency the brand promises its patrons. This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for quality food and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment. New cooks are trained in specific stations tailored to their comfort levels and skills, meaning you don't need to be an expert at every kitchen task to join. The responsibilities include preparing food with exact adherence to award-winning recipes developed by the company’s chef, ensuring all ingredients meet high freshness standards, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the cooking station to meet food safety regulations.

Ideal candidates communicate effectively, work well in a team, and take pride in crafting meals that customers love. The role demands responsibility and attention to detail but also offers a collaborative atmosphere where everyone's contribution is valued. At least 18 years of age is required for employment in this role.

This position offers a range of full-time benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, access to telemedicine services, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) retirement plans, meal discounts for employees and their families, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and more. Additional perks such as employee assistance programs, backup childcare, pet insurance, and discounts on travel and fitness memberships, highlight the company’s commitment to putting its employees first.

Joining First Watch means becoming part of a company recognized not only for its culinary excellence but also for its profound dedication to employee satisfaction and community impact. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or new to the kitchen, First Watch provides an inclusive work environment that fosters growth and celebrates teamwork, making it a genuinely rewarding place to work.
