Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise company in the United States, specializing in providing unique and immersive experiences exploring America's rivers and coasts. The company is known for its commitment to showcasing the diverse beauty and heritage of America through small-ship cruising. With over 50 itineraries spanning over 35 states, American Cruise Lines offers guests an exceptional opportunity to travel and discover the country from a unique perspective aboard some of the finest American ships. The company fosters a culture driven by strong core values including optimism, commitment, patriotism, and merit, which are reflected in their service, people, and mission to share America's story.

This particular job opening is for the position of Dishwasher for the 2026 season, a temporary role intended for a 28-week contract onboard their cruise ships. This role is critical in supporting the shipboard galley by ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all items necessary for a high-quality dining experience. The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining hygiene standards by cleaning and sanitizing all cutlery, glassware, dishes, and surrounding areas. The position requires physical demands such as the ability to lift boxes up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in an environment that experiences constant ship motion. Additionally, the Dishwasher may be called upon to assist in various guest service functions including greeting guests, supporting special events, and participating in evening entertainment.

The pay for this position ranges from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, with additional bonuses available. One of the significant benefits of working for American Cruise Lines includes all major living expenses being covered while onboard—this includes travel, room and board, uniforms, and training. This structure allows employees to save a larger portion of their earnings while enjoying the opportunity to travel extensively across the United States. This role serves as a foundation for those interested in building a career in the hospitality industry, offering hands-on experience within a dynamic and fast-paced cruise environment. The company emphasizes a positive work attitude, ability to work under pressure, and strong dedication to maintaining the high standards for which American Cruise Lines is known.

As a member of the crew, employees enjoy the chance to create lifelong friendships and meaningful relationships with colleagues and guests alike, enriching their overall experience aboard the ship. While this is a temporary full-time, non-exempt position without guarantee of future employment, it provides an invaluable opportunity for personal and professional growth. American Cruise Lines also upholds strict grooming standards and safety protocols consistent with federal regulations, ensuring the well-being of both crew members and guests.
