This commitment to excellence and innovation sets Ghirardelli apart in the retail and restaurant sectors, providing employees with exciting opportunities for personal and professional growth. Joining Ghirardelli means becoming part of a dynamic team that is passionate about quality, customer service, and continuous development.
This job opening is for a Restaurant/Retail Associate position with immediate availability, offering the ability to start within days. This role is part-time to full-time with varying shifts, including nights and weekends, and requires a high-energy individual with reliability and a strong work ethic. The starting pay is $19.25 per hour plus tips, with holiday pay at 1.5 times the regular rate for any holidays worked. Employees enjoy a free sundae or shake on every shift, a 50% employee discount on all products, and the opportunity to earn quarterly bonuses. The work schedule includes store hours from Monday to Thursday 11:00am to 9:00pm, Friday 11:00am to 10:00pm, and weekends from 10:00am to 10:00pm, with potential shifts extending up to two hours before or after for preparation and cleaning.
As the face of the company, the Restaurant/Retail Associate performs an essential role in representing Ghirardelli's brand and ensuring customers have an exceptional experience. Employees handle all restaurant and retail duties, such as merchandising, stocking, and providing excellent guest service, particularly in promoting and selling Ghirardelli's premium chocolate products. The role involves assembling proprietary retail items in accordance with recipes, managing retail product inventory both on the sales floor and behind the scenes, ensuring products are properly priced and displayed, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of both the sales floor and back stock areas.
The position also requires proficiency in cash handling and credit card processing using company procedures, maintaining detailed knowledge of products and their pricing, and utilizing this knowledge to satisfy guest inquiries and generate upsell opportunities. Gift-wrapping special items according to company standards, following food safety guidelines, keeping fountain and condiment supplies stocked, and maintaining all equipment and supplies, including candy making tools, also fall under this role’s responsibilities. Working as a 'Topper' or 'Scooper' and performing semi-table service functions to enhance guest satisfaction are additional key tasks.
Successful candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effective time management, and the capacity to work professionally with a diverse team. They must maintain a cheerful and pleasant demeanor, providing superior guest service at all times, and have fundamental math skills and the ability to operate dishwashing machinery. High school diploma is preferred, and applicants must be at least 18 years old. Ghirardelli is committed to fair hiring practices and considers qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. This opportunity offers not just a job but a chance to be part of a longstanding company where tradition meets innovation, and employee contributions genuinely matter.
