Job Description

Currently, Sodexo Live! is seeking seasonal, part-time Dishwashers to join the team at the New England Aquarium, a nonprofit research and conservation organization dedicated to protecting marine life and fostering ocean education. The role offers a rate of pay of $18 per hour, providing a competitive wage for those interested in contributing to an important cause while gaining valuable work experience.

The Dishwasher position plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency and hygiene standards by ensuring the proper washing and storage of kitchenware, including china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, and other food service equipment. Dishwashers utilize both manual cleaning methods and automated machinery to uphold Sodexo Live!'s stringent cleanliness and sanitation guidelines. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, following OSHA standards and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

In addition to cleaning duties, the Dishwasher is responsible for receiving, unloading, storing, and distributing food products, retail merchandise, and other supplies necessary for daily operations. Maintaining a neat and organized workspace is crucial to the role, contributing to the overall success of the food service team. The position demands flexibility, as work hours may extend to nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.

Job Requirements

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight
  • Must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Willingness to work extended or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Contribute to goal of 100 percent customer satisfaction through personal commitment to teamwork and service
  • Support operation by cleaning dishes, glassware, pots, pans, silverware, racks and any other items needed by food service and culinary staff, and/or as requested by Chef or Executive Steward
  • Receive and store stock and special-order of Food and Beverage while adhering to and understanding safety policies and regulation
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment
  • Uphold safe work practices at all times
