Job Description

The Lead Diswasher / Steward role at Hampton Golf is integral to maintaining the smooth operation of the club's food and beverage services. This position is classified as hourly, with options for full-time and part-time employment, and adheres to non-exempt labor guidelines. Working hours depend on shift assignments, which are structured to support both kitchen and dining area efficiency during the club's operational hours. The primary focus of this role is to ensure all kitchenware, tableware, and dining utensils are cleaned thoroughly, sanitized, and ready for use, thus supporting the culinary team and upholding sanitation standards.

The Lead Diswasher / Steward will be responsible for receiving, sorting, and preparing dishware for washing. This includes careful scrubbing of heavily soiled items and ensuring all equipment is set up properly for washing tasks. Beyond dishwashing, the role requires diligent garbage collection, cleanliness of the kitchen environment, and maintaining the overall organization of kitchen areas according to the Food and Beverage Manual. The position demands attention to detail, the ability to follow established cleaning protocols, and a proactive approach to safety and efficiency.

In addition to its core duties, this role supports the preservation of club assets by operating within established guidelines, policies, and standards. The Lead Diswasher / Steward performs opening and closing checklists, conducts daily facility walkthroughs to ensure safety and presentation, and enforces courteous and efficient service standards. This ensures that the club environment remains safe, attractive, and welcoming for all visitors.

Candidates best suited for this role will demonstrate excellent oral communication and listening skills as well as the ability to work under direction and provide outstanding customer service. The physical demands of the role include the ability to perform moderate physical labor, occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds, and sustained periods of standing and other physical activities such as bending and reaching. The role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards in a fast-paced food service environment, potentially including exposure to kitchen hazards and outdoor elements.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepares tableware for washing by removing food residue and sorting dishes into racks
  • sets up dish washing machine including checking soap and rinses
  • prepares glassware for washing by emptying liquids and sorting by size
  • dries and polishes glassware with clean towels
  • cleans dish washing equipment and working area
  • collects garbage from dining room, kitchen grills, and other areas, examining waste for silverware and dishes
  • delivers retrieved silverware and dishes to their designated locations
  • cleans garbage cans thoroughly with hot soapy water and steam
  • maintains cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas per F&B Manual
  • completes opening and closing checklists as per F&B Manual
  • conducts daily walk-through to ensure facility safety and presentation
  • protects club assets and operates within Hampton Golf policies and guidelines
