The role of Dishwasher at PJ Whelihan's Pub + Restaurant is crucial to maintaining the high standards that keep guests coming back. Dishwashers ensure the cleanliness and availability of all dishware, flatware, glassware, pots, and pans which are essential to the smooth operation of the kitchen and dining areas. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to hygiene and safety standards. In addition to dishwashing, team members in this role contribute by maintaining the cleanliness of the dish area, managing trash disposal and parking lot upkeep, and assisting with basic food preparation and portioning under managerial guidance. The Dishwasher reports directly to the Assistant Kitchen Manager or Kitchen Manager and plays a supportive but vital role in the kitchen team. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus
  • Ability to maintain sanitary standards and work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and managers
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)

Job Duties

  • Wash flatware, tableware, glassware, pots and pans, using dishwasher or by hand
  • Place all clean dishes, utensils or cooking equipment in storage area or on supplied shelves on the line
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dish area
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated trash areas, replacing bags and washing out cans when needed
  • Clean and prepare various foods for cooking or serving, instructed by the manager
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Keep all equipment clean and in good working condition
  • Sweep the parking lot daily and maintain the parking lot in all weather conditions
  • Load or unload trucks for delivery and store items in correct placing rotating if needed
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly
  • Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
  • Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for dishwasher station
  • Assist others in closing the kitchen
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty
