The role of Dishwasher at Cantina Catrina is a vital position within the restaurant’s operations team. This role requires an individual dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen tools and dining implements to uphold health codes and enhance the dining experience. The dishwasher will be responsible for washing all wares, including pots, pans, flatware, and glasses, either by hand or using commercial dishwashing equipment. In addition to cleaning tasks, the dishwasher will ensure that all clean equipment is correctly stored in designated areas and that service stations are stocked with necessary utensils and dishes.

Beyond the primary cleaning responsibilities, the Dishwasher helps maintain an orderly and safe kitchen environment. This includes keeping dishwashing equipment stocked with detergent, cleaning trash receptacles, managing waste disposal, and assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed. The role also requires consistent communication with supervisors regarding any operational issues and adherence to company policies and health and safety regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Less than a high school diploma acceptable
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, and place up to 60 pounds
  • Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and wipe frequently
  • Frequent immersion of hands in water required
  • Ability to work in hot and damp environments

  • Good physical stamina required

Job Duties

  • Wash all wares including pots, pans, flatware, and glasses by hand or using dishwashers
  • Correctly place and store clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas
  • Stock serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils
  • Maintain and fill the dishwasher with detergent in the morning and turn it off at the end of the evening shift according to established procedure
  • Clean trash receptacles with water or steam
  • Move dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work area by hand or using hand trucks
  • Prepare laundry bags from prep line, expo, kitchen area, and front of house
  • Assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking and/or serving as directed
  • Ensure work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation
  • Keep the kitchen clean by sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash cans
  • Complete assigned preparation and improvement functions
  • Ensure proper product rotation marking and labeling with 'day dots'
  • Resolve problems that may arise with running the dishwasher or adding dish detergent
  • Keep the supervisor informed of any problems or issues and take necessary actions as required
  • Perform all activities and responsibilities in a highly effective manner by company policies to achieve position objectives
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all store employees to promote a healthy and harmonious work climate
  • Provide a favorable image of Cantina Catrina to promote goals and objectives and raise guest recognition
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
