The role of a Dishwashing Team Member at Whole Foods Market involves essential duties related to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, which supports the overall operation of the store. This position requires washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares to ensure food safety standards are met while maintaining the general cleanliness of floors, walls, shelves, and other kitchen areas. The dishwashing team member also assists in receiving, organizing, and rotating kitchen deliveries, working within a team that promotes courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and other Team Members. This role demands strong commitment to upholding company policies, health and safety regulations, and supporting the core values of Whole Foods Market. A typical workday involves consistent attention to detail, physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work in varying temperature conditions. This entry-level position provides opportunities for growth and advancement within the company. The wage range for this role is $17.00 to $25.40 per hour, commensurate with experience. Additionally, Whole Foods Market offers Whole Benefits to both full-time and part-time Team Members, including paid time off, health and wellness support, financial wellness programs, and store discounts, reflecting the company’s commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction. New Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days may be eligible for a base rate increase, further supporting career development and retention.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • ability to work in cold, freezing, and hot temperature conditions
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to safely use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and ladders

Job Duties

  • Washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares
  • maintains cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves in the kitchen area
  • assists with kitchen deliveries including proper storage, organization, and rotation of products
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper product prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
  • follows and complies with established procedures including health and sanitation and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • performs other duties as assigned by leadership
