This position is based at the JW Marriott property located at 700 W Convention Way, Anaheim, California. The role is a full-time, non-management position in the Food and Beverage & Culinary category. It primarily involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards within the kitchen and storage areas through operating cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The shift hours for this position are primarily from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, with an additional overnight shift differential wage of $1.00 per hour during 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The pay range is fixed at $28.65 per hour, reflective of the skill and dedication required for this essential role.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for ensuring all kitchen and store room areas, utensils, tools, knives, and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to meet Marriott's high standards. This includes effective use of detergents, rinsing agents, and sanitizers in cleaning stations, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation all around, and promptly addressing any maintenance or safety concerns by notifying management. The position demands physical stamina and dexterity, such as the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform various movements like bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Key responsibilities also include managing deliveries, storing perishables properly, rotating stock to minimize waste, waste disposal, and recycling tasks.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is not required
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use chemicals safely
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to reach overhead and below knees including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Ability to follow company safety and security policies
  • Must complete safety training and certifications

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dish washing machine, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing station, and trash compactor
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
  • Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock
  • Use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
  • Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
  • Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
  • Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments
