We are currently hiring for the vital role of Dishwasher at Upstate University Hospital located at 750 East Adams Street, Syracuse, NY. This role offers both full-time and part-time positions with flexible schedules including 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm shifts, featuring rotating weekends. The pay rate is fixed at $17.66 per hour. This position plays an essential role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, ensuring that dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment are spotless and ready for use. The Dishwasher supports the overall efficiency of the food service operation, helping to uphold the health and safety standards required in a hospital environment. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced setting with attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Previous dishwashing experience is preferred but not mandatory as training and support are provided to help succeed in this important position. Job Requirements

  • Previous dishwashing experience preferred
  • Ability to work full-time or part-time including rotating weekends
  • Must be able to maintain sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job such as lifting and standing
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and comply with company policies
  • Must maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous dishwashing or kitchen sanitation experience preferred
  • Ability to follow sanitation and safety procedures
  • Good physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Basic understanding of chemical handling in dishwashing

Job Duties

  • Scrapes and rinses food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine depending on assigned equipment
  • Ensures complete cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen utensils
  • Polishes silver using appropriate methods such as burnishing machine tumbler, chemical dip, buffing wheel, or hand cloth according to assigned procedures
  • Ensures compliance with safety procedures while maintaining chemical levels and temperatures as per standards
  • Keeps dishwashing area orderly and compliant with safety and sanitation regulations
  • Sweeps and mops kitchen floors to maintain cleanliness and safety
  • Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other food preparation surfaces
  • Removes trash and disposes of it in designated containers, steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas as needed
  • Helps load and unload supplies and products
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support kitchen operations
