Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a vibrant and energetic restaurant chain rooted deeply in Louisiana culture and tradition. Founded by two LSU walk-on basketball players, Walk-On's began as a dream fueled by hard work, passion, and an undying determination to succeed without the usual advantages like scholarships or spotlight. Today, Walk-On's has evolved into a nationally recognized brand that remains true to its origins by serving scratch-made dishes with authentic Louisiana flair and delivering a memorable game-day atmosphere. The essence of Walk-On's lies not just in its menu, but in the welcoming team-oriented culture where every employee, from kitchen staff to management, is treated like family. The company values teamwork, hospitality, passion, growth, and community, making it an inspiring environment for employees who seek career growth in the thriving hospitality industry.
The dishwasher role at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a crucial and highly valued position within the kitchen team. As a part-time, non-exempt role reporting to the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty, the dishwasher plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the kitchen. The dishwasher acts as the backbone of the kitchen by ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and cookware are thoroughly washed, sanitized, and organized. This position demands keen attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and safety standards that directly impact guest satisfaction and health compliance.
Essentially, dishwashers at Walk-On's help drive the restaurant's success behind the scenes by keeping the dish room spotless, emptying trash, mopping floors, cleaning cans, and setting up and breaking down dish machines while ensuring everything is functioning properly and safely. They pre-soak, scrub, and sanitize pots, pans, and silverware, ensuring no dirty item leaves their station. Monitoring water temperatures and cleaning standards is part of their job to guarantee food safety and quality. The dishwasher collaborates closely with kitchen teammates by assisting during busy shifts, staying flexible, and working with a positive attitude. This role embodies the team’s spirit as it makes sure the kitchen remains championship-ready for every gameday.
Walk-On's offers more than just a job for dishwashers; it presents an opportunity to grow with the company. There is a strong emphasis on career development where today's dishwasher could become tomorrow's line cook or manager. Employees thrive in a gameday-like atmosphere rich with camaraderie and shared wins. Flexible part-time hours suit students and individuals with other commitments, while a supportive culture celebrates diversity and inclusivity. Working as a dishwasher at Walk-On's means joining a team that values energy, passion, reliability, and pride, no matter the position. Compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation practices is mandatory, reinforcing the company's commitment to guest safety and quality service.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and possesses a team-first mentality. Walk-On's invites applicants who are motivated, come prepared to hustle, and take pride in their work to apply and become part of a winning tradition that turns hard work and hospitality into gratifying guest experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
