Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- meet health requirements including health screening and TB clearance
- pass state-required fingerprinting and criminal background check
- ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance
- ability to talk, hear, and use vision effectively
- occasional weekend, evening, or night work and on-call as needed
- possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, latex, and other hazards
- ability to lift and assist as needed, up to 50 lbs occasionally
- frequent interaction with coworkers, residents, and vendors
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in food service or customer service preferred
- obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by state regulations
- first Aid certification required
- compassion for and desire to work with older adults
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- ability to understand and follow instructions, plan and organize tasks
- self-motivated with strong customer service work ethic
- pleasant, professional, and personable with excellent organizational skills
Job Duties
- Support a positive customer service culture in the dining room
- transport dishes to the kitchen and maintain a clean dining area
- clear, wash, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and tabletop items
- return dishes and utensils to appropriate storage areas
- ensure safe work practices for yourself and coworkers
- comply with Safety Committee Standards
- complete sanitation and cleanup tasks for dish room, kitchen, dining areas, steam tables, sinks, and drains
- empty trash and follow daily cleaning schedules
- assist with serving residents in the dining room as needed
- maintain flexibility with daily schedule, including weekends or evenings as needed
- display friendliness and professionalism when interacting with residents, families, and visitors
- provide support during community tours and events
- follow dress code and maintain a positive professional image
- report elder maltreatment or abuse as required to appropriate management and authorities
- perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Culinary Services
