Job Description

The Pueblo of Sandia is a sovereign Native American Nation located in New Mexico, committed to serving its community through various economic and cultural enterprises. Among its diverse operations, the Pueblo runs a hospitality and food service division dedicated to providing outstanding dining experiences through multiple food and beverage outlets. Rooted in values of integrity, fairness, collaboration, communication, and recognition, the Pueblo strives to maintain high performance standards and foster an environment of respect and opportunity for its workforce. This philosophy ensures a motivated team that is equipped to meet the evolving demands of the business while honoring the traditions and values of the Pueblo.

The role under general supervision focuses on supporting all food and beverage outlets, particularly by maintaining cleanliness and order in dishwashing and kitchen areas. This position plays a crucial part in the smooth operation of food service outlets, contributing directly to the quality and safety of the dining experience. The Dishwashing Support Staff ensures that all kitchenware is cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly, aligning with the health and safety standards mandated by tribal, state, and federal regulations. This helps uphold the reputation of the Pueblo’s food services as clean, efficient, and professional.

Working in this capacity involves a comprehensive set of duties such as washing pots, pans, utensils, and dishware; maintaining dishwashing machines and kitchen areas; cleaning storage racks and food preparation equipment; managing trash removal; and participating in routine meetings to stay informed about workplace procedures. Due to the physical nature of the work, the position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks including lifting, standing for extended periods, as well as working indoors and outdoors under potentially challenging conditions.

As part of the requirements, successful completion of the New Mexico Food Handlers course within 30 days of hire and passing background and drug screening checks are mandatory. Overall, this position is ideal for motivated individuals who value a respectful and structured work environment, possess a willingness to learn and follow instructions, and are dedicated to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in food service operations.
