Job Description

Community Food Co-op is a community-owned natural foods grocery store dedicated to providing high-quality food options while emphasizing sustainability and cooperative business principles. The Dishwasher position plays a crucial role within the Co-op's deli department, reporting directly to the Prepared Foods Managers. This non-exempt, union-affiliated role (Union Classification Level 1) works primarily evening shifts on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 pm to 10 pm. The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of dishes, kitchenware, and utensils to ensure smooth operations in the deli. Beyond cleaning duties, the position supports waste management and overall sanitation efforts, helping to uphold health and safety standards within the kitchen and dining areas. This role demands reliability, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit, as well as the ability to maintain a positive and calm demeanor in a busy kitchen environment. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Keep the dish area clean and organized
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils thoroughly
  • Put clean items away in appropriate locations
  • Take out trash and recycling
  • Remove trash and bus tubs from the front of house
  • Maintain cleanliness of the recycling area and dish pit
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors, including the walk-in
  • Participate in regular and deep cleaning projects
  • Assist with putting away orders as needed
  • Follow directions from team members to prioritize tasks
  • Communicate with coworkers when leaving or returning from breaks
  • Share ideas and concerns with the manager
  • Offer help and maintain positive communication with coworkers
  • Ensure sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
  • Perform additional duties in both front and back of house as needed
