Job Requirements
- ability to stand and walk during 6-to-8-hour shifts
- ability to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe
- ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 60 pounds and place items on high and low shelves in storerooms and freezers
- ability to work in a frequently hot and damp environment and use proper precautions with various types of chemicals
- ability to frequently immerse hands in water
Job Qualifications
- ability to understand and follow directions and requests for assistance
- ability to work cooperatively in a kitchen environment
- skills necessary of this position are typically acquired through a minimum of two months on the job training or through related experience
Job Duties
- wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwasher or by hand
- place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas
- maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
- stock supplies such as food, dishes, and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars
- inspect and clean areas of responsibility
- sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
- clean garbage cans with water or steam
- transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks
- assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking or serving as needed
