Job Requirements

  • ability to stand and walk during 6-to-8-hour shifts
  • ability to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe
  • ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 60 pounds and place items on high and low shelves in storerooms and freezers
  • ability to work in a frequently hot and damp environment and use proper precautions with various types of chemicals
  • ability to frequently immerse hands in water

Job Qualifications

  • ability to understand and follow directions and requests for assistance
  • ability to work cooperatively in a kitchen environment
  • skills necessary of this position are typically acquired through a minimum of two months on the job training or through related experience

Job Duties

  • wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwasher or by hand
  • place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas
  • maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
  • stock supplies such as food, dishes, and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars
  • inspect and clean areas of responsibility
  • sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
  • clean garbage cans with water or steam
  • transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks
  • assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking or serving as needed
