As a Food Service Worker at Banner Desert Medical Center, you will embark on a rewarding career path with opportunities to advance within a well-established culinary team. Your primary responsibilities will include dishwashing, food tray pickup, and maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria through dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and disinfecting. This role ensures that the food preparation and dining areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.

The position offers flexible shifts with available schedules from Thursday to Monday working 1 PM to 9:30 PM, and Saturday to Wednesday with varied start times between 6 AM and 7:30 AM for 8-hour shifts. Team members also enjoy benefits such as a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential where applicable.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required
  • Food handlers card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services members
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for employees at Behavioral Health Hospital and Olive Branch Senior Center at time of hire and maintained during employment
  • Ability to follow work routine with regular supervision
  • Ability to work quickly and correctly
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Set up work station and prepare assigned foods and nourishments following procedures and portion control
  • Clean and sanitize dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses, and cooking utensils
  • Clean and sanitize designated equipment and kitchen areas, disposing of waste materials
  • Monitor dish machine temperature
  • Maintain par levels of foods and supplies, order and restock items, rotate food stocks and check expiration dates
  • Check and record food and equipment temperatures according to procedures and report discrepancies
  • Deliver meals, nourishments, late trays, and tube feedings to units and assist in catering or special event service
