The Dishwasher position at Waltonwood is an integral part of the Culinary department, working diligently behind the scenes to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen area at all times. This role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen by ensuring all dishes, glassware, tableware, and cooking utensils are properly cleaned using both machine and manual methods. The dishwasher also contributes to maintaining sanitary conditions by sweeping and mopping kitchen floors and stockrooms, taking out trash, and promptly reporting any hazardous situations to the Culinary Supervisor or Culinary Service Director. Being detail-oriented and efficient is essential in this position, as the dishwasher’s work directly impacts the quality of the culinary experience delivered to the residents.
The role requires consistent attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic, as every member of the team plays a vital part in meeting the community and company goals. Success in this position depends on the ability to approach tasks with dedication, pay close attention to details, manage time effectively, and maintain a customer-focused mindset. Experience in a commercial kitchen environment is preferred but not mandatory. Physical demands include manual dexterity, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and tolerance for exposure to hot water, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures. Job Duties
- Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine
- Sort and stack clean dishes
- Carry clean dishes to cook’s line or other proper storage areas
- Wash certain pots, pans, trays, dishes and utensils by hand with specified soap and water directed by the Culinary Supervisor or Culinary Service Director
- Sweep kitchen floors, ensure kitchen floor is sanitized and take trash out
- Mop stockrooms and report any hazardous situations in the kitchen to the Culinary Supervisor or Culinary Service Director
- Adhere to all sanitation and safety standards
- Assist with all other duties as assigned by the Culinary Supervisor or Culinary Service Director
