The Dishwasher role at Sunrise of Cary is a vital position contributing directly to the facility’s operational excellence in dining services. This full-time or part-time position is integral in maintaining clean, sanitary, and well-organized kitchen and dining areas. The Dishwasher will be responsible for cleaning dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment while adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards. Additionally, this role includes janitorial duties that ensure the dining and food preparation spaces remain safe and sanitary for residents and staff alike. The Dishwasher will also assist with food preparation and plating as needed, helping the kitchen team deliver excellent service.

Job Requirements

  • one year job related experience preferred
  • CPR certificate and first aid certificate may be required
  • ServSafe food handler card may be required
  • local health department food handler card may be required
  • ability to handle multiple priorities
  • adherence to safety rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment
  • ability to perform janitorial tasks and operate dishwashing equipment

Job Duties

  • Set-up and maintain the dish and pot washing areas
  • operate dish machine(s) according to manufacturer instruction
  • perform dishwashing tasks to properly wash and sanitize all dishes and china, silverware, glassware, utensils, and cookware
  • maintain accurate dish machine and pot and pan sink temperature and sanitation logs and report any issues promptly
  • maintain accurate equipment logs and report any issues promptly
  • complete assigned kitchen cleaning duties and ensure accuracy of daily and weekly cleaning logs
  • clean assigned kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, fryers, microwaves, mixers, slicers, refrigerators, freezers, worktables, prep sinks, ice makers, coffee machines, hoods and ventilation screens
  • perform assigned janitorial duties including sweeping work areas, mopping floors, washing walls and ceilings, sanitizing production areas, and emptying trash
  • assist with food preparation and plating when necessary
  • maintain the correct storage of all cookware, china, glassware, and utensils
  • maintain the correct storage of all janitorial and chemical supplies
  • assist in the receiving, storage, dating, labeling, and rotation of food and non-food supplies
  • comply with national/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety and risk management programs and policies
  • clean and maintain the dining room and bistro to the highest standards per company guidelines
  • bus and reset tables per company standards
  • take and deliver food orders in a timely manner
  • prepare and serve light meals in a timely manner and in accordance with established standardized recipes and menus
  • participate and commit to working toward team goals
  • demonstrate team member credo in daily interactions
  • commit to serving residents and guests through principles of service
  • contribute to overall engagement programs for residents and team members
  • attend meetings as directed by dining services coordinator
  • maintain compliance in assigned training and all training required by regulatory authorities
  • perform other duties as assigned
