Job Description
American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise company in the United States, specializing in providing unique and immersive experiences along America’s rivers and coasts. With a robust fleet of fine American ships, the company takes pride in sharing the rich and diverse stories of the nation through their extensive itineraries that span over 35 states and boast more than 50 unique travel routes. American Cruise Lines is renowned for offering an intimate, small-ship cruising experience that emphasizes superior hospitality, authentic connections, and showcasing the best of American history and culture.
This role is a temporary Dishwasher position for the 2026 season. It offers an exceptional chance to work aboard one of the finest American ships for 28 weeks, a period during which employees gain valuable exposure to the cruise and hospitality industries. The position is full-time and nonexempt, requiring dedication and a positive attitude to meet the physical demands and dynamic work environment aboard the ship. Weekly wages range from $1,000 to $1,400, with additional bonuses, making this job a lucrative opportunity especially since all major living expenses—including travel, room, and board—are covered onboard. This allows crew members to potentially save a substantial portion of their earnings.
The Dishwasher plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the shipboard galley, ensuring an outstanding dining experience for guests by thoroughly cleaning all utensils, glassware, dishes, and associated galley areas. Beyond traditional dishwasher duties, the role may also involve assisting with general galley support tasks such as receiving food deliveries, reporting equipment maintenance issues, and even participating in guest engagement activities during special events like afternoon teas and evening entertainment. This multifaceted role is ideal for individuals seeking to build a foundation in hospitality, learn about cruise operations, and develop interpersonal skills through authentic interactions with guests and fellow crew members.
American Cruise Lines operates under core values of Optimism, Commitment, Patriotism, and Merit, which are reflected in their work culture, service standards, and employee relationships. The company is committed to safety and professionalism, alongside career development opportunities for motivated crew members wishing to advance within the organization. This position is an excellent entry point to the cruise industry and offers numerous benefits, including comprehensive training, uniforms, and a supportive onboard community, fostering lifelong friendships and unforgettable experiences. Candidates should be able to perform essential physical functions and thrive in a fast-paced, motion-intensive maritime environment.
