The role in focus is a part-time Dishwasher position on Highway Inn's kitchen crew. This role is integral to maintaining the smooth daily operation of a busy kitchen environment, especially in a high-volume restaurant like Highway Inn where efficiency and cleanliness are paramount. Although this is an entry-level position with no prior experience required, the dishwashing team must be dependable, hardworking, and eager to contribute positively to the kitchen's operations. Dishwashers at Highway Inn are responsible for using commercial dishwashers, sinks, and cleaning tools such as spray hoses, gloves, scrub pads, and sanitizing chemicals to effectively wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, cooking and serving utensils, and various catering items. Attention to detail is critical; each item must be inspected after washing to ensure it is free of food residue and properly sanitized before being put away in the correct storage area.
This position demands physical stamina as it involves standing or walking for up to 10 hours a day in a non-temperature-controlled environment that can be hot and humid. Teamwork and effective communication with coworkers and supervisors are essential to ensure tasks such as clearing, cleaning, and setting tables, opening and closing duties, and assistive food preparation functions are performed efficiently. Job Duties
- using a commercial dishwasher and or sink spray hose(s), wash dishes glasses flatware pots pans cooking and serving implements catering items and other assorted restaurant items
- inspecting all items after washing to ensure they are thoroughly clean with no food or food residue left on them
- putting away and returning thoroughly washed and sanitized items to their proper location within the restaurant in a timely fashion
- clearing cleaning and setting tables as needed
- stocking cleaning and prepping back and front of house areas
- opening and or closing work area following expected opening and closing standards and procedures
- assisting with food preparation functions when needed as directed by supervisor
