The role in focus is a supervisory position responsible for overseeing more than thirty food production employees within a unionized environment. The primary objective of this role is to ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including HACCP, USDA, and FDA mandates, while maintaining high standards of product quality and sanitation. The supervisor plays a critical role in managing labor and material costs, ensuring that production meets both customer and airline specifications with a strong emphasis on operational efficiency and cost control. In this capacity, the supervisor will be entrusted with multiple reporting responsibilities, including the preparation of management reports related to attendance, labor costs, and HACCP compliance. Candidates are also expected to possess basic computer proficiency, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and the ability to obtain ServSafe certification.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 plus years supervisory experience in food production or related field preferred
- Must have leadership skills and ability to manage 30 plus hourly employees
- Ability to train and provide feedback
- Must have time management and multitasking skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification
- Compliant with union policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree preferred
- 2 plus years supervisory experience in high volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment or related field preferred
- Strong and effective leadership skills
- Experience in labor relations a plus
- Ability to train others
- Ability to provide negative and positive feedback
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills
- Ability to innovate and improve operations
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office

- Clear and effective communication skills
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi, or Polish a plus
Job Duties
- Ensures quality production standards are followed and maintained
- Ensures employees adhere to HACCP, FDA, USDA and safety regulations and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Prepares management reports such as attendance, HACCP and labor as required
- Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements
- Ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards are accurate according to the airline specifications
- Ensures that all products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures
- Conducts inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste
- Completes required requisitions for the Storeroom to ensure adequate supply is maintained
- Responsible for maintaining daily temperature logs and other reports
- Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and reports maintenance and repair issues timely
- Controls material cost and other controllable costs
- Maintains all financial goals related to productivity, overtime, labor goals and hours per flight
- Works with management staff to improve unit performance
- Manages work flow balancing and division of responsibilities on each shift
- Determines when to call employees to cover staffing needs
- Ensures compliance with wage and hour policy including rest and meal breaks
- Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures
- Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees
- Responsible for employee retention and reducing turnover
- Coaches, counsels and prepares corrective actions compliant with union agreements
- Reviews and ensures employees are in correct cost centers and job titles
- Reviews pay rates for union employees based on wage scales and seniority
- Ensures compliance with company policies including required training
