The role of Dishroom Clerk is a vital position within the Market Grille department at Hy-Vee. This is a non-exempt position focused on maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas to ensure high standards of food safety and customer satisfaction. The Dishroom Clerk provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service and is responsible for handling food safely while keeping the work environment clean and neat. Key responsibilities include washing kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans, and ensuring that the dishroom remains well-organized and sanitary.
In addition to cleanliness duties, the Dishroom Clerk interacts with customers through friendly greetings and efficient service and supports a team-oriented work environment. Job Duties
- provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store
- makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
- answers the telephone promptly when called upon, and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call including taking customer orders
- works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- takes the department garbage to the compactor or designated area
- maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- washes department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, etc.
- handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat
- removes trash in a timely manner
- adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines
- reports to work when scheduled and on time
