St. Charles Health System is a prominent healthcare organization committed to creating America’s healthiest community through compassionate and quality care. Recognized for its vision, mission, and values, St. Charles focuses on better health, better care, and better value to serve its patients, caregivers, and the community. The health system is known for its comprehensive range of healthcare services and dedication to professionalism, continuous improvement, and ethical standards. Located in Oregon, St. Charles Health System operates with a strong emphasis on accountability, caring, and teamwork, fostering a positive and supportive environment for both patients and staff.

The Food Services Department at St. Charles Health System plays an essential role in delivering world-class food and beverage services to patients, staff, and visitors. This department manages a variety of services including patient room service, a cafe, deli, and catering, handling high volumes efficiently while maintaining quality standards and customer satisfaction. Within this supportive and dynamic environment, the Food Service Cleaning Attendant contributes by ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen items and workspaces, applying health regulations and organizational standards vigorously.

This role is offered as a relief position with variable pay ranging between $19.81 and $24.76 per hour, providing flexibility in scheduling shifts. It is a non-exempt role reporting directly to the Food Services Supervisor under the Food Services Department. The Food Service Cleaning Attendant’s primary responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools using commercial dishwashers and other cleaning equipment, and performing routine and deep cleaning of food preparation areas. The position demands a keen eye for detail to maintain compliance with both St. Charles Health System and Oregon Food Sanitation standards.

The Food Service Cleaning Attendant does not oversee other caregivers but plays a crucial part in supporting the operational efficiency of food services. The role involves retrieving soiled trays, restocking sanitized dishes, maintaining clean kitchen environments from floors to equipment, and disposing of waste correctly. Successful candidates should have excellent communication skills, enjoy working collaboratively in fast-paced environments, and demonstrate the ability to multitask effectively. Basic to intermediate computer skills and familiarity with electronic communication tools are also beneficial. Personal protective equipment usage and adherence to safe work practices are mandatory. Physical requirements include standing and walking for significant portions of the shift, lifting various weights, and occasional activities such as climbing or operating equipment.

This position is suited for individuals seeking an important role in healthcare food service without requiring prior experience, although those with a background in food handling or safety are preferred. Educational requirements are minimal, but having a high school diploma or equivalent and food safety certifications will enhance candidacy.
