Job Description
Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group is a dynamic and expanding restaurant company that originated from a small establishment in New Orleans' Mid-City neighborhood. Over time, this group has grown significantly and currently operates two distinctive brands, Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine, with over 20 restaurant locations spread throughout the Southeastern United States. Known for embodying the vibrant spirit and soulful flavors of New Orleans, their restaurants specialize in all-day brunch offerings that celebrate the rich culinary traditions of the area. This company is well-regarded for its commitment to quality, community, and cultural authenticity, making it a favored dining destination for locals and visitors alike.
The role being offered is that of a Dishroom Attendant, an essential position within the Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group team. This role focuses on maintaining sanitary and efficient operations in the dishwashing and kitchen cleaning processes. The Dishroom Attendant is responsible for washing and cleaning tableware, pots, pans, and various cooking equipment. Additionally, the role involves keeping the dish room and equipment clean, organized, and functioning properly by loading, running, and unloading the dish machine. The position requires attention to detail to ensure that all sanitation standards and safety protocols are diligently followed. Those in this role will be expected to report any mechanical or functional issues with the dish machine immediately and maintain a clean, safe working environment throughout their shift.
The Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group values team members who bring enthusiasm and dedication to their work. This role is particularly suitable for individuals who thrive in active, physically demanding environments with high cleanliness standards. The company promotes a positive work-life balance, as the restaurants operate only during breakfast and lunch, allowing employees to work days only and be home in time for dinner. This schedule provides flexibility and a healthier work routine compared to dinner or late-night shifts typically found in the restaurant industry.
Physical stamina is an important aspect of this position due to the nature of duties performed, which involve working in hot, wet, humid, and noisy conditions for extended periods, often up to 10 hours. The Dishroom Attendant must be capable of lifting and moving heavy items, including bags, cases, and stacks weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. The job does not require prior restaurant experience, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to enter the hospitality industry or find reliable day work with opportunities for growth and pay increases.
Joining the Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group not only means becoming part of a growing company with a unique brand and culture, but it also comes with valuable benefits. Employees receive medical and dental coverage, paid time off, and opportunities for advancement. Additionally, the company offers family meal perks and employee discounts, fostering a supportive and inclusive work atmosphere. This role is ideal for those who believe in the charm of New Orleans cuisine and culture and want to contribute to a team that values quality, teamwork, and community spirit.
