Job Description
Marriott Vacations Worldwide is a leading global vacation ownership and hospitality company known for delivering exceptional travel experiences through its extensive portfolio of properties and services. As a prominent player in the travel and hospitality industry, Marriott Vacations Worldwide offers a diverse range of vacation ownership options, resort accommodations, and related services designed to meet the evolving needs and preferences of its customers. The company is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity, and innovation, ensuring that it not only meets but exceeds the expectations of its guests, partners, and employees.
The Director - Travel at Marriott Vacations Worldwide plays a pivotal role in driving the commercial and operational success of the Cruise and Hotel product lines. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Global Marketing, this position requires a strategic leader responsible for executing enterprise-aligned strategies that balance commercial growth, operational excellence, and outstanding customer experiences. The role blends multiple facets of business including commercial strategy, analytics, supplier relationship management, and operational leadership.
This leadership role encompasses the end-to-end management of the Cruise and Hotel portfolios, from sourcing and pricing through to fulfillment and post-booking customer service. The Director oversees pricing architecture, yield management, inventory supply optimization, and promotional planning, ensuring that every aspect aligns with the company's broader growth objectives. By collaborating closely with Marketing, Sales, and Digital teams, the Director ensures market differentiation and competitive positioning that capitalize on current trends while identifying new opportunities such as exclusive partnerships, bundled offerings, or loyalty-driven products.
In addition to commercial strategy, the Director is deeply involved in supplier and partner management, negotiating contracts, managing commercial terms, allotments, and ensuring suppliers meet the company’s rigorous service and brand standards. Operational leadership is another critical facet of the role, overseeing back-end operations and customer servicing teams dedicated to delivering seamless booking processes, efficient handling of changes and cancellations, and swift resolution of customer issues.
Customer experience is a top priority, where the Director leads efforts to optimize the end-to-end customer journey from booking through post-travel support. This involves identifying friction points, driving cross-functional improvements involving Technology and UX teams, and using customer feedback and insights to continuously enhance products and processes to meet or exceed brand promises.
Analytics, governance, and performance management are integral to the role, with the Director defining key success metrics, developing executive-level reporting, and maintaining governance, risk management, and compliance standards. This analytical acumen supports data-driven prioritization, investment decisions, and ongoing optimization to support revenue growth, margin improvement, and customer retention.
People leadership is central, with the responsibility to build and nurture a high-performing team across strategy, operations, and service functions. The Director fosters a culture of customer obsession, ownership, and continuous improvement while mentoring and leading by example within the broader Travel organization.
This role requires a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of experience in travel, hospitality, or marketplace businesses. Significant leadership experience managing teams is essential, alongside deep knowledge of Cruise and Hotel categories, pricing and yield management, operational leadership, and analytics. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and strategic decision-making skills are imperative for success.
Marriott Vacations Worldwide embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal opportunity employment and cultivating an environment where talented professionals can thrive and make a meaningful impact in the travel and hospitality sector.
