The role of Director, Strategic Events and Communications is a vital position within Keurig Dr Pepper’s Frisco, Texas office. This full-time, high-impact leadership role focuses on driving the company’s presence and strategic engagement at major industry trade shows and internal sales events. The director will lead the planning, strategy, and execution of large-scale external trade shows such as the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), Food Marketing Institute SEE (FMI), and various large customer business conferences. They will be responsible for crafting compelling event visions, messaging, and booth experiences that effectively showcase KDP’s expansive portfolio and support business objectives.

In addition to external events, this role oversees large internal gatherings including the National Sales Meeting (NSM) and Sales/Marketing conferences. The director collaborates closely with senior leadership to curate event agendas, content, and key presentations that energize and align the sales organization with corporate strategy. The role also involves managing KDP's internal Sales & Communications portal, "The Source", ensuring that the commercial teams have immediate access to up-to-date materials, news, product launches, sales playbooks, and marketing resources. This ensures seamless communication flow and supports cohesive sales strategies across the organization.

The Director, Strategic Events and Communications also leads a dedicated team of trade communications and event specialists, providing mentorship, clear strategic direction, and performance management. Cross-functional collaboration is essential, working alongside Sales Leadership, Marketing, Category/Commercial Strategy, and Corporate Communications departments to ensure consistent messaging and smooth coordination throughout the highly matrixed business structure.

Vendor and budget management are crucial aspects of this role, requiring strong financial stewardship, negotiation abilities, and meticulous oversight of external partners including event production agencies and designers. The director is tasked with delivering impactful events within budget constraints while optimizing return on investment through data-driven analysis. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or related field strongly preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in trade communications, event management or marketing communications
  • Proven success in planning and executing large-scale events or trade shows with full accountability
  • Five or more years of leadership experience in a matrix environment
  • Experience managing direct reports and influencing without direct authority
  • Deep knowledge of event production and marketing communications best practices
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinker with experience translating business objectives into event strategies
  • Strong project management skills with ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Analytical mindset to measure event effectiveness and engagement
  • Proven budget management skills and vendor negotiation experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% for onsite event execution
  • Comfortable working flexible hours around event schedules

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of KDP’s participation in major external trade shows and industry events
  • Develop event vision, messaging, and booth experiences to showcase KDP’s portfolio and drive business goals
  • Manage all logistics and on-site production for events, including oversight of external event production agencies
  • Plan and execute large-scale internal events such as National Sales Meeting and Sales/Marketing conferences
  • Oversee content creation and run of show for key sessions to ensure aligned messaging
  • Own and manage KDP’s internal Sales & Communications portal, ensuring sales teams have up-to-date resources
  • Lead a small team of trade communications and event specialists, providing direction and mentorship
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align event plans and internal communications
  • Manage vendors, negotiate contracts, oversee vendor performance and event budgets
  • Track expenditures and event metrics to optimize return on investment
