The Director of Sales - Special Events role at AEG is a pivotal leadership position focused on driving the growth and success of the company’s special events business. This full-time position offers an attractive salary range of $71,477.46 to $97,469.08 annually and includes eligibility for sales commissions as part of AEG’s commission plan. The director leads strategic sales efforts, building and nurturing client relationships through networking, research, cold calling, and targeted marketing. This role requires managing the entire sales cycle from proposal creation and contract negotiation to event execution and follow-up, ensuring both client satisfaction and operational excellence. Beyond sales, the director oversees the management and training of special event staff, including bar, wait, and security personnel, upholding company standards and policies in every event. The position demands exceptional organizational, project management, and decision-making skills, supporting a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays to align with event needs. Job Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • 6-8 years of related work experience
  • Prior experience working in music venues preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Professional Suite
  • Self-motivated and professional demeanor
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in sales and client relations

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

Job Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Advanced degree in sales, marketing, or a related field preferred

  • Computer savvy and proficient in MS Office Professional Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Job Duties

  • Network, research and cold call potential clients to create new business opportunities
  • Manage client relationships
  • Create event proposals and budgets
  • Collect event deposits and contract signatures once event(s) are confirmed
  • Advance event details for confirmed events and serve as contact person for event related issues
  • Ensure that all steps are taken to guarantee the event is executed successfully
  • Collect vendor quotes and finalized contracts
  • Train and manage special event staff including bar, wait and security personnel
  • Ensure that special events staff is adhering to company policy regarding rentals and special event execution
  • Be available to advise or make recommendations on any issues that may arise in the event process
  • Follow up with clients to ensure event meet client’s expectations, place holds for future dates/show if event could become reoccurring
  • Promote upcoming events and availability to potential, existing and past clients
  • Respond to inquiries on availability, pricing and locations
  • Negotiate deal terms and pricing
  • Prepare contracts and letter agreements once proposals are accepted
  • Submit budget and change orders
  • Create competitive pricing models that drive the maximum revenue possible for the venue
  • Track sales and devise plans to reach annual goals
  • Develop strategic collateral materials, online marketing and other strategic tools to generate activity
