Job Description

The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel has been a distinguished leader in professional education and hospitality for more than 60 years. The Georgia Center is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales & Event Management who will lead the Sales, Event Coordination, and Event Services teams. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker and a results-oriented individual with a strong background in sales, event management, and financial oversight. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Sales and Event Management (SEM) division, aligning departmental goals with the overall objectives of the Georgia Center and the University of Georgia.

The Director of Sales & Event Management will supervise and evaluate leaders within the departments, ensuring performance expectations are met while fostering motivation and engagement among staff. Key responsibilities include overseeing departmental budgets, developing and implementing sales strategies that maximize revenue and profits, and ensuring the efficient coordination of events in accordance with Georgia Center standards and processes. The role also includes strategic responsibility for enhancing and managing the Georgia Center’s internship program, which supports the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ Hospitality and Food Industry Management program. This internship program plays an essential part in bridging academic theory with practical, real-world experience in hospitality and event management.

Candidates for this role should bring extensive experience in event planning and sales within continuing education or similar sectors, strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships among academic, community, and business stakeholders. Preferred qualifications include a degree in hospitality, business, or a related field, knowledge of audiovisual technology, and a Certified Meeting Professional designation. The Director must exhibit excellent communication skills, a commitment to staff development, and a dedication to delivering exceptional customer service. Job Qualifications

Job Duties
