Job Description

McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is a respected community medical provider dedicated to serving the residents of the Willamette Valley with a comprehensive range of healthcare services. Offering inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, medical, surgical, and emergency care, this medical center prides itself on being an integral part of the community, serving not just as a healthcare facility but also as a trusted resource for families, friends, and neighbors. The center is committed to delivering quality healthcare that is personalized to fit the unique lives and lifestyles of the people it serves, ensuring that every patient receives compassionate, high-standard care tailored to their individual needs.

The role of Director of Surgical Services and Cardiac Cath Lab at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is a pivotal leadership position requiring a professional Registered Nurse (RN) with comprehensive clinical experience and management capabilities. This role holds 24-hour accountability for the strategic, administrative, and clinical oversight of multiple critical departments, including the Operating Rooms, Pre-Op/PACU, Sterile Processing, and the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The Director is responsible for guiding and optimizing the daily operations of surgical suites, recovery areas, and cardiovascular procedural units, ensuring efficiency, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

The Director develops and implements a comprehensive strategic plan for surgical and cardiovascular services, focusing on improving throughput, patient flow, and resource utilization to enhance overall operational efficiency. Managing inventory, supply chain logistics, and equipment maintenance falls within the purview of this role, guaranteeing that the departments remain prepared and fully functional at all times. Furthermore, the Director supervises staffing patterns, scheduling, and labor productivity to meet benchmarks and maintain smooth functioning across all units.

An essential aspect of this position involves hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring nursing and technical staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Cardiovascular Technologists (CVTs), and Technicians (Techs). The role calls for strong leadership skills to manage a multidisciplinary team efficiently, enabling a supportive and collaborative work environment. With a keen focus on regulatory compliance, the Director ensures that all departments maintain 24/7 adherence to relevant laws and healthcare standards.

Candidates for this leadership role must possess an active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Oregon and hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). A minimum of 3 to 5 years of clinical experience in Operating Room or Cardiac Cath Lab settings is required, along with at least 2 years of progressive managerial experience in a hospital environment. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of cardiac catheterization techniques and surgical procedures, with proven ability to lead effectively during high-stress and emergency situations. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory, while certifications like CNOR and RCIS are preferred, enhancing the candidate's qualifications.

Working at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center offers competitive salary and benefits, professional development opportunities, and a supportive workplace culture driven by collaboration. Employees benefit from comprehensive healthcare coverage, retirement savings plans, paid time off, flexible scheduling, and access to a student loan repayment program. This is an excellent opportunity for nursing professionals seeking to elevate their leadership careers within a community-focused medical institution dedicated to delivering excellence in surgical and cardiac care.
