Job Description
Marriott Marquis Washington DC, part of Marriott International's luxurious portfolio, stands as a premier hotel located at 901 Massachusetts Ave NW in the vibrant heart of Washington, DC. Known for delivering exceptional hospitality and accommodating guests with comfort and style, Marriott Marquis focuses on blending innovative service with memorable guest experiences. As a full-service management level establishment, it offers an extensive range of rooms, dining options, event spaces, and amenities designed to serve business travelers, tourists, and local clientele with a keen eye toward quality and satisfaction. Marriott International, the parent company, is dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment, fostering a culture where associates feel valued and empowered to grow both professionally and personally. With a commitment to the motto "Wonderful Hospitality. Always.", Marriott Marquis continuously endeavors to be an outstanding destination for both guests and employees alike.
This opportunity is for a transient focused Sales Leader role specializing in Business Travel (BT), Special Corporate, Wholesale, Retail, Leisure, and crew room segments. This full-time management position, based onsite at Marriott Marquis Washington DC, offers a competitive annual pay range between $129,000 and $168,000, alongside eligibility for bonus compensation. The Sales Leader will be charged with directing the Travel Industry Sales function to ensure that client expectations and production goals consistently meet or exceed standards. The ideal candidate will strategically select and cultivate business within various travel industry sectors to maximize both guest room occupancy and food and beverage revenue.
The role entails developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing programs tailored to the Travel Industry Sales market. The Sales Leader will work closely with the sales management team, supporting and promoting sales strategies that align with broader organizational goals. Key responsibilities include managing all sales activities, overseeing and mentoring a sales team, coordinating with other departments such as marketing and revenue management, and maintaining important external relationships with stakeholders including travel agencies, tour operators, and the Global Sales Organization. This role also involves detailed analysis and reporting on sales and financial data, enabling informed decision-making to drive optimized revenue streams.
Beyond typical sales management, the role requires exceptional leadership in customer service philosophy, ensuring that all interactions reflect Marriott's brand promise. Enhancing guest satisfaction through active engagement during pre- and post-event meetings, and empowering the sales team to provide unparalleled service, are fundamental to success. Additionally, the candidate will manage human resource functions, such as interviewing, training, performance appraisals, and employee development, contributing to a motivated and high-performing team culture.
Marriott Marquis values associates who are confident, innovative, genuine, and intuitive—qualities that resonate within the brand's legacy and vision. Joining the team grants a unique chance to work within a globally recognized luxury brand that offers ample growth opportunities, professional development, and an inclusive workplace environment. Associates benefit from a strong culture of camaraderie and support that fosters both individual and collective achievement. Marriott International continues to evolve, innovate, and raise the standards of hospitality worldwide, and by joining Marriott Marquis Washington DC, you become part of that enduring legacy and a dynamic future.
