The role of Director of Sales, Events (Catering) at Montage International is pivotal to driving the success of the hotel's social and corporate functions. The Director of Sales, Events (Catering) will oversee the events team, coordinating all aspects of group functions to surpass food and beverage revenue goals and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • minimum of 5 years experience in catering sales and service in a hotel environment
  • excellent communication skills
  • proficiency with sales and catering software
  • strong organizational and management skills
  • ability to work collaboratively with multiple hotel departments
  • capacity to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally
  • ability to sit for extended periods and engage in walking and standing as needed
  • valid work authorization
  • ability to attend meetings and industry events as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education required
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • minimum of 5 years catering sales and service experience preferred in a Los Angeles area hotel market
  • familiarity with food and beverage basics, menu planning and private/group event coordination and planning
  • ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers
  • knowledge of computers, sales/catering software, and Microsoft Office programs

Job Duties

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication
  • coordinate and oversee client functions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • manage the events team and ensure goals are exceeded
  • sell, manage, coordinate, and execute group assignments turned over by the Sales Department
  • monitor all contractual agreements pertaining to meeting space, food and beverage and special concessions
  • effectively communicate to all hotel departments information necessary to execute group needs while maintaining client relationships
  • prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance
  • participate in business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other catering sales related meetings
  • responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting
  • responsible for monthly P&L review and commentary
  • participate in development and revisions of SOPs
  • work with other hotel departments to provide quality service
  • attend community/social events and industry meetings
  • develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
  • support additional responsibilities given by Sales & Marketing Leaders
