The role of Director of Sales, Catering at Montage International represents a dynamic leadership position within the sales and events team. This individual will be responsible for driving revenue growth by soliciting new and existing accounts through telephone outreach, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communications. A critical aspect of the role involves overseeing the coordination and execution of client functions to ensure customer satisfaction is consistently exceeded. The Director will lead the events team, ensuring that all goals related to sales and service are not only met but surpassed. This position demands a high level of collaboration with various hotel departments to ensure seamless execution of group assignments, managing all contractual agreements for meeting space, food and beverage, and other concessions. Effective communication skills are essential to keep all stakeholders informed and maintain exemplary client relations.
Additional responsibilities include preparing customer correspondence, internal booking reports, and maintaining accurate records related to sales and catering activities. The Director of Sales, Catering will participate actively in business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, ongoing training, and other sales-related meetings required to stay ahead in the competitive luxury market. Networking within the community and industry events is part of the role to stay abreast of market trends and competitors, which helps in developing strategies to capture new business opportunities. The position is well suited for a seasoned professional with a strong background in catering sales and service, preferably within the Los Angeles hotel market.
This full-time leadership role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $108,500 to $135,000, exclusive of incentives such as commissions and gratuities. The work environment features a moderate temperature controlled by hotel environmental systems, and tasks vary from desk-based activities to physical movement around the hotel to facilitate events and meetings. Employees in this role must demonstrate physical capability to perform necessary tasks such as lifting, walking, standing, reaching, and engaging with guests and colleagues effectively. Job Requirements
- High school or equivalent education required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years catering sales & service experience preferred in a Los Angeles area hotel market
- Familiarity with food and beverage basics, menu planning and private/group event coordination and planning
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding
- Knowledge of computers, sales/catering software, and Microsoft Office programs

Job Duties
- Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication
- Coordinate and oversee client functions to ensure customer satisfaction
- Manage the events team and ensure goals are exceeded
- Sell, manage, coordinate, and execute group assignments turned over by the Sales Department
- Monitor all contractual agreements pertaining to meeting space, food and beverage and special concessions
- Effectively communicate to all hotel departments the information necessary to successfully execute the group's needs while maintaining a good client relationship
- Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance
- Participate in business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other catering sales related meetings as required
- Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers
- Attend community/social events and industry meetings
- Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
