The StateView Hotel is a distinguished property within the Marriott Autograph Collection located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Strategically positioned adjacent to North Carolina State University and overlooking Lake Raleigh, this hotel features 164 luxury guest rooms along with 8,000 square feet of versatile event space. The hotel is celebrated for its upscale accommodations, excellent service standards, and its important ties to the local community, university, and various corporate and government sectors. As a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, it balances its unique identity with the benefits of Marriott's global distribution systems and Bonvoy loyalty program.

The Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) at StateView Hotel is a dynamic leadership role responsible for crafting and implementing the hotel’s comprehensive commercial strategy. Reporting to the General Manager, this person spearheads sales and marketing efforts targeting various business segments including corporate, group, university-related, government, social, transient, and leisure markets. The DOSM collaborates closely with regional sales and revenue management teams to maximize revenue generation, optimize market positioning, and ensure brand alignment. This executive-level position requires a strategic thinker who can engage directly with key clients, foster robust partnerships, and lead a motivated team to achieve ambitious financial objectives. The Director will also oversee marketing initiatives encompassing digital marketing, content strategy, local partnerships, and promotional campaigns that elevate the hotel’s market presence.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 to $127,000 annually and an attractive bonus program. Job Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree preferred in hospitality management, business, marketing, or a related field
  • minimum of 5 years progressive hotel sales experience
  • at least 2 years in a director of sales and marketing or director of sales leadership role
  • Marriott experience strongly preferred
  • proficiency in CI/TY
  • familiarity with Marriott sales, revenue, and distribution systems
  • proven success driving group, corporate, catering, and transient business
  • experience with corporate, association, government, university, and social segments
  • demonstrated expertise in direct selling, strategic account management, business development, and revenue generation
  • strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • ability to influence ownership, brand stakeholders, community partners, and key clients
  • knowledge of the Raleigh-Durham market highly preferred

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor’s degree preferred in hospitality management, business, marketing, or a related field
  • minimum of 5+ years of progressive hotel sales experience with at least 2+ years in a director of sales and marketing or director of sales leadership role within a full-service, upscale, lifestyle, or luxury hotel
  • Marriott experience strongly preferred including proficiency in CI/TY and familiarity with Marriott sales, revenue, and distribution systems
  • proven success driving group, corporate, catering, and transient business within highly competitive markets
  • experience selling to corporate, association, government, university, and social segments preferred

Job Duties

  • lead all sales and marketing initiatives with a focus on corporate, association, university-related, government, social, and group business aligned with Autograph Collection brand standards and Marriott commercial strategies
  • develop and execute a comprehensive sales and marketing business plan that supports revenue objectives, market positioning, and ownership goals
  • drive direct sales efforts utilizing Marriott global sales resources, CI/TY, and Bonvoy channels while maintaining a proactive approach to prospecting, client engagement, and business development
  • build and strengthen relationships with Marriott global sales, key accounts, university stakeholders, corporate partners, destination organizations, and meeting planners
  • expand market share through targeted strategies focused on corporate travel, university events, athletic programs, alumni groups, associations, government business, and SMERF segments
  • strategically manage key accounts and develop long-term partnerships that generate sustainable revenue growth
  • collaborate closely with revenue management to optimize pricing, segmentation, forecasting, and channel strategy using Marriott systems and best practices
