Job Description

Hyatt Regency Columbus is a premier upscale hotel located in the heart of Columbus, Ohio. Situated within walking distance of key attractions such as Nationwide Arena, the trendy Arena District, and the Short North Arts District, Hyatt Regency Columbus offers a unique blend of modern sophistication and local culture. With 633 renovated guest rooms and spacious suites, the hotel boasts 70,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, making it a preferred venue for both business and leisure travelers. Connected directly to the Greater Columbus Convention Center and close to vibrant downtown districts, the hotel represents the optimal meeting and leisure destination in central Columbus.

The Director of Sales and Marketing at Hyatt Regency Columbus plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving the revenue strategy of the hotel. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the entire sales and marketing operations, ensuring that short-term and long-term business goals are met or exceeded. The role involves direct management and development of the sales team, steering the sales and marketing budgets including revenue forecasting, advertising, marketing initiatives, public relations, and collaboration with ownership. This individual must bring a proactive and innovative approach to sales generation to continuously enhance the hotel’s market performance.

Additionally, the Director of Sales and Marketing is expected to analyze market trends, demand drivers, supply and demand dynamics, and economic factors to optimize hotel revenue streams in rooms, food and beverage, and other departments. Being a dynamic strategist and an integral part of the hotel’s overall strategy team is essential. The role includes recruiting, training, and coaching the sales team to maximize effectiveness and revenue generation while managing the group contractual agreements and promotional efforts.

A critical aspect of this role is partnering with marketing, communications, and agency teams to design and execute an annual marketing plan that addresses market challenges and opportunities throughout the booking cycle. This involves developing strategic marketing materials, expanding the client base through prospecting and relationship cultivation, and representing the hotel at major travel and trade events locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Director of Sales and Marketing also collaborates closely with operational teams to align sales efforts with guest needs, ensuring a seamless guest experience. This position requires exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills to build and maintain strong client relationships, develop market share, manage hotel sales contracts, and present results to asset management teams. The role demands flexibility, including the possibility of travel during weekends and evenings to attend business functions and sales trips.

Hyatt Regency Columbus embodies values of respect, integrity, inclusion, empathy, experimentation, and wellbeing, with diversity, equity, and inclusion at its core. The company fosters a culture where its employees are cared for so they can be their best, providing a supportive and enriching work environment. Joining Hyatt Regency Columbus means becoming part of a respected global hospitality brand that values employee growth, high performance, and teamwork in an upscale hotel setting.
