Job Description
The Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, owned and operated by the independent franchisee Spire Hospitality, is a premier full-service hotel located conveniently by the Hollywood Burbank Airport in Burbank, California. Known for its proximity to major attractions like Universal Studios Hollywood, the North Hollywood Arts District, and the Burbank Town Center, this hotel thrives in the heart of the Los Angeles entertainment industry. The property features diverse food and beverage outlets, expansive meeting spaces totaling 46,000 square feet, two outdoor pools, and 93 suites, positioning itself as a versatile venue for both leisure and business travelers alike. As part of Spire Hospitality’s portfolio, the hotel benefits from a management company that specializes in creating memorable guest experiences and delivering best-in-class service throughout its national network of hotels and resorts. This affiliation ensures the team has access to robust support, advanced tools, and ample opportunities for career growth in the hospitality industry.
The Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) to join its management team. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the General Manager. The DOSM will play a pivotal role in driving top-line revenue growth, maximizing profitability, and elevating the hotel's market share within one of the most exciting and competitive markets in the entertainment capital of the world. This position demands a dynamic, results-driven leader who thrives as a hunter — someone with the ambition and strategic foresight to not only maintain but aggressively expand the hotel’s sales and marketing footprint.
In this influential role, the DOSM will be responsible for crafting and implementing multi-year commercial strategies that impact both immediate and long-term business goals. A key focus will be leading the property’s sales team to success while managing comprehensive digital and traditional marketing initiatives that enhance brand positioning and client engagement. Additionally, the role calls for close collaboration with on-property leaders and the Revenue Management team to optimize pricing, inventory, and distribution channels for maximum revenue impact. The DOSM will also foster strong connections with community partners and key clients, particularly within the corporate transient, group, entertainment, SMERF (social, military, educational, religious, and fraternal), and leisure segments.
The successful candidate will oversee all sales and marketing facets including group sales, transient and catering sales, and banquet sales, ensuring that they align with the property's financial objectives and corporate brand standards. The DOSM will also be tasked with managing relationships with external PR, advertising, and digital marketing agencies to maintain a consistent and effective marketing presence.
Leadership development within the sales team is paramount. The Director will recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate sales and catering staff, establishing clear performance metrics, KPIs, and booking goals. Regular coaching and performance reviews will help ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds set objectives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a motivated team in an iconic location, driving business growth in a vibrant and high-profile hospitality market.
Spire Hospitality offers a comprehensive benefits package including early pay or earned wage access, medical, dental, vision insurance, pet discount programs, identity theft protection, pre-paid legal support, flexible spending accounts, matched 401K plans, life insurance, critical accident or illness coverage, short- and long-term disability benefits, paid time off, wellness programs, and attractive hotel discounts. The salary for this position is $165,000 USD annually. Spire Hospitality and the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel are committed to equal employment opportunity. Join this collaborative and forward-thinking team and become a star in the hospitality industry, making a lasting impact in one of Southern California’s premier hotel properties.
