Job Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 4 years experience in sales and marketing
  • or 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 2 years experience in sales and marketing
  • Ability to lead and manage a sales team effectively
  • Strong knowledge of sales processes and marketing strategies
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to develop and implement sales strategies
  • Experience in budgeting and managing marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry trends and competitor analysis
  • Leadership skills including coaching and talent development
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and customers

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manage development of strategic account plans for market demand generators
  • Manage property's reactive and proactive sales efforts
  • Determine and develop marketing communication activities with Regional Marketing Communications
  • Provide customer intelligence to evaluate market and economic trends affecting sales strategy
  • Review Strategic Alignment Review reports and competitive shopping data to maintain market awareness
  • Research competitor sales strategies to grow occupancy and revenue
  • Attend sales strategy meetings and contribute to sales planning
  • Suggest innovative marketing ideas and deployment strategies
  • Evaluate and support Area and Group Sales participation
  • Serve as sales contact for General Manager, leadership team, and sales leaders
  • Advocate for customers and manage sales processes and contracts
  • Liaise with various hotel departments including Revenue Management and Event Management
  • Participate in sales calls to acquire and close business
  • Identify public relations opportunities to support marketing
  • Coordinate crisis communications with General Manager
  • Execute and support Marriott's Customer Service and Brand Standards
  • Support operational aspects of business bookings including proposals and contracts
  • Participate in daily brand service basics and meetings
  • Ensure smooth turnover between sales and operations
  • Monitor and resolve guest issues arising from sales
  • Increase revenues, control expenses, and deliver ROI
  • Implement brand service strategy and build long-term customer relationships
  • Interface with regional marketing for promotions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Develop partnerships with local organizations to increase brand awareness
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships
  • Maintain property participation in tradeshows and client events

  • Set goals and expectations for direct reports
  • Forecast talent needs and manage acquisition strategy
  • Maintain competitor sales talent list and plan recruitments
  • Support training resources for catering sales
  • Champion leadership development and workforce planning
  • Identify, train, and mentor group sales associates
  • Transfer knowledge and develop sales skills of managers
  • Provide leadership to achieve sales objectives and booking goals
