Job Description
Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa is a premier destination resort located on the Santa Ana Pueblo, nestled beautifully between the impressive Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande. This unique setting positions the resort as one of the Southwest's most distinctive and sought-after places for meetings, events, and unforgettable guest experiences. Hyatt, known globally for its commitment to caring for people so they can be their best, reflects this core purpose in every aspect of its operations, demonstrating deep respect, empathy, integrity, and focus on well-being for guests, colleagues, owners, and communities alike.
Hyatt Regency Tamaya offers 350 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, alongside more than 49,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, perfectly suited to accommodate a variety of corporate and social occasions. The resort embodies a culture focused on inclusivity, experimentation, and excellence, making it a vibrant place for both guests and employees.
The role of Director of Sales & Events at Hyatt Regency Tamaya is pivotal in steering the resort's commercial success while nurturing a people-focused and inclusive leadership culture. As a key member of the Leadership Committee, the Director of Sales & Events has direct oversight of the resort’s Sales, Event Sales, Event Planning, and Conference Services departments. This leadership position involves managing the Sales, Marketing, and Events budgets and P&L, revenue forecasting, advertising campaigns, and marketing strategy execution. The role demands a strategic and commercial mindset to develop and implement both short-term and long-term business plans tailored to achieve revenue goals and expand market share across all pertinent channels.
Key responsibilities include leading a dynamic team consisting of sales managers, event sales managers, and administrative staff, with duties encompassing recruitment, hiring, training, coaching, and continuous professional development to optimize team performance and guest satisfaction. The Director also manages contractual agreements, pricing policies, referrals, account management, and initiatives aimed at customer retention, reactivation, and new business acquisition.
Embedded deeply in the resort’s core values—respect, empathy, well-being, integrity, experimentation, and inclusion—the Director of Sales & Events is expected to champion these values by leading with integrity and fostering a culture where innovation and continuous improvement thrive. They will oversee the seamless coordination between sales, conference services, and other resort operations to ensure exceptional execution of meetings, conferences, incentives, weddings, and special events.
In addition to leadership and operational duties, this role requires strategic planning expertise and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and market trend analysis to identify growth opportunities. The Director partners closely with Marketing to develop and roll out integrated sales and marketing plans, ensuring Hyatt Regency Tamaya is positioned as a premier destination for a diverse array of event types.
This full-time leadership role demands a proven track record of success in a progressive hospitality sales and events environment, preferably at an upscale or luxury resort. The Director must be a visionary innovator who builds trust and engagement through authentic relationships, encouraging collaboration and accountability within the team.
