Job Description
Our client is a distinguished hotel that prides itself on delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining a strong presence within the competitive hospitality industry. This hotel is recognized for its exceptional service standards, elegant accommodations, and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations. Located in a vibrant market that attracts both business and leisure travelers, the property offers a sophisticated blend of comfort, convenience, and luxury, appealing to a broad customer base ranging from corporate clients to tourists and event attendees. The hotel continually seeks to innovate and adapt to market trends to sustain its reputation and drive sustained growth in revenue and market share.
The Director of Sales at this esteemed hotel plays a critical leadership role tasked with the development and execution of strategic sales and marketing initiatives aimed at achieving the property’s financial objectives. The role demands an individual with a refined sales acumen and comprehensive industry knowledge to maximize revenue across diverse market segments including corporate accounts, group bookings, transient guests, and leisure travelers. This leadership position involves proactively seeking new business opportunities, fostering and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, and leveraging extensive networking to expand the hotel’s customer portfolio. The Director of Sales is also responsible for carefully evaluating sales leads, negotiating corporate rates, and ensuring alignment with the overall sales and revenue strategy to secure business that meets the hotel’s goals.
Moreover, this role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with internal teams such as marketing, revenue management, front office, and food and beverage departments to create a unified strategy that enhances the overall guest experience and optimizes revenue generation. The Director of Sales will also provide direction and mentorship to the on-property sales team including sales coordinators and event personnel, ensuring their success through clear task assignment, performance management, and training initiatives. Engagement in community relationships is essential to strengthening the sales pipeline and identifying fresh opportunities. This role demands a dynamic sales leader capable of independent judgment in closing deals, conducting site visits, and delivering compelling property tours to prospective clients.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales management within the hospitality industry, particularly in hotel sales or operations roles, supported by outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in sales management software and Microsoft Office, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel periodically for client visits or market outreach are also vital for success in this role. Exceptional organizational skills, the flexibility to work extended hours when needed, and the capacity to manage physical demands such as lifting and long periods of computer use are important. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the hotel’s market share and revenue performance through strategic leadership and hands-on sales initiatives, making it a key position within the hotel’s management team.
