The role of Director of Rooms at Mandarin Oriental, Boston is a vital leadership position within the Hotel Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the Hotel Manager, the Director of Rooms oversees both the Front Office and Housekeeping departments, ensuring these teams operate efficiently and uphold the highest quality standards established by the hotel. This role requires a dynamic leader who excels at supervision, direction, and inspiring a team to deliver exceptional service experiences. The Director of Rooms is responsible for managing the financial and qualitative objectives of the Rooms Division, including involvement in capital expense planning. This position demands a hands-on approach to maintaining legendary quality service metrics while driving operational profitability and guest satisfaction. Acting as Manager on Duty, the Director of Rooms plays a key role in guest relations by personally welcoming VIPs and repeat guests and anticipating their unique needs. The position also involves collaborating closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and resolving any guest or internal concerns with courtesy and efficiency. The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $120,000 annually, reflecting the seniority and expertise required. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask
  • Effective management, leadership, organizational, financial, and communication skills
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of the shift
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in luxury hospitality is strongly preferred
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask
  • Effective management, leadership, organizational, financial, and communication skills
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • 4-year college degree in Hospitality Management or a similar field is desirable
  • Multi-lingual skills are desirable

Job Duties

  • Support company’s culture through the use of MOHG’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure guest satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement
  • Operate the Front Office and Housekeeping departments properly, efficiently and with profitability, which includes supervising Front Office and Housekeeping Managers and their development and performance
  • Responsible for planning, monitoring, and meeting all financial and qualitative objectives for the Rooms Division
  • Act as Manager on Duty
  • Personally own and elevate service quality metrics of the Front Office and Housekeeping by adhering to Legendary Quality Standards
  • Ensure an exceptional level of service for all guests, including a warm and genuine arrival and departure experience
  • Maximize room revenue and occupancy by effectively controlling rates and availability
