Job Description
Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM) is a premier global provider of integrated manufacturing solutions, recognized for its leading position in the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) market. As a technology frontrunner, Sanmina delivers comprehensive end-to-end manufacturing support that caters primarily to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across a diverse array of high-growth sectors. These include communications networks, defense and aerospace, industrial and semiconductor systems, medical technologies, multimedia, computing and storage, automotive, and clean technology industries. The company has established a widespread global footprint with strategically located facilities designed to meet the dynamic and complex demands of its international clientele.
Sanmina Corporation’s reputation as a trusted manufacturing partner is built on its commitment to superior quality, operational excellence, and innovative solutions that align with critical market trends and customer needs. Employing advanced technologies and streamlined processes, the company plays a pivotal role in enabling its clients to accelerate their product lifecycle, improve efficiency, and reduce time to market.
The role of Director, Operations at Sanmina is a senior leadership position that encompasses oversight of the entire operations function, including production manufacturing engineering, manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and end-to-end activity management from production planning through to product shipment. This role is integral to the company’s success in maintaining high standards of operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability within highly regulated manufacturing environments.
The Director, Operations acts as a seasoned professional leveraging deep expertise in materials management, industrial engineering, and lean principles to lead teams and projects that directly impact plant throughput, yield, and overall production excellence. This leadership role requires decisiveness and strategic thinking to manage complex projects such as entire customer transfers, encompassing supply chain logistics, product qualification, testing, process optimization, and scheduling.
Key responsibilities include driving the deployment and tracking of new programs throughout North American plants, working closely with plant leadership to embed fundamental process improvements, resource planning best practices, and program management rigor. The Director serves as an on-boarding coach to enhance and transform current onboarding approaches that predominantly rely on documentation and occasional training into more robust, interactive, and results-driven processes.
A critical aspect of the role is balancing service quality with cost controls to maximize profitability while ensuring responsiveness to customer demands through efficient management of materials, inventory, and production capabilities. Monitoring and reporting on operational metrics, maintaining acceptable inventory levels, coordinating logistics including shipping and warehousing, and collaborating with finance on inventory-related financial practices are essential duties.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, coupled with over a decade of engineering or management experience in regulated manufacturing settings. Experience in printed circuit board manufacturing is advantageous but not mandatory. Leadership acumen demonstrated through at least five years of direct people management, proficiency in lean methodologies (Green or Black belt certification is a plus), and expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams are critical.
Additional qualifications include strong business and financial acumen, with a comprehensive understanding of P&L and balance sheet management, alongside project planning and management skills such as capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, yield forecasting, and new product introduction. The ideal candidate is an adaptable, proactive self-starter with outstanding communication, negotiation, and analytical capabilities, coupled with proficiency in Office and Google productivity suites and Oracle ERP applications.
Sanmina offers a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $165,000 annually, commensurate with the candidate’s experience, education, certifications, and skills. The total rewards package includes health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, paid time off for vacation and personal business, and may include eligibility for restricted stock units and discretionary bonuses. Sanmina Corporation is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
