Job Description

Fidelity Investments is a renowned financial services corporation known for its robust and innovative offerings in investment management, retirement planning, and wealth management. Established as one of the largest asset managers globally, Fidelity has a strong commitment to delivering excellence in financial services, guided by innovation, integrity, and client-centric solutions. The organization operates various specialized divisions, including National Charitable Services, which focuses on philanthropy through the Fidelity Charitable donor advised fund, the largest of its kind in the world. This division helps facilitate philanthropic efforts by supporting donors, advisors, and nonprofit organizations in managing charitable contributions and grants efficiently and confidently.

The Director of Operations role within National Charitable Services is an essential leadership position responsible for overseeing major operational functions related to money movement activities, specifically Money Out (Grants), Money In (Contributions), and Nonprofit Organization enrollment either in Texas or Salt Lake City. This role demands a strategic leader who can seamlessly manage multiple teams, ensuring flawless execution of operational controls. The Operations Director will be critical in safeguarding the integrity of numerous daily transactions while balancing the demands of frequent interactions with donors, advisors, and nonprofit partners.

This dynamic position requires not only maintaining routine operational processes but also leading the charge against emerging challenges such as fraud. With thousands of daily interactions, the director ensures all contributions and grants are recorded accurately in compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. The role is particularly demanding during peak giving seasons, necessitating exceptional organizational and leadership skills to manage increased workloads efficiently.

As a team leader, the Director is responsible for hiring, coaching, and mentoring managers, fostering their professional growth and preparing them for future leadership roles within Fidelity. Success in this role is measured by critical metrics including client satisfaction, risk management, operational scalability, and overall team leadership. The position also involves leading cross-functional initiatives that can have significant impacts on business operations.

Candidates for this role should have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with over 10 years of experience. Proficiency in areas such as Risk Management, Fraud, Compliance, and Operations within financial services or the nonprofit sector is highly desirable. Effective communication skills and the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse teams are key. The Director must have a demonstrated track record in managing, developing, and engaging teams to deliver outstanding business results, while maintaining strong business partner and vendor relationships.

This leadership role emphasizes accountability, initiative, and independent thinking, as well as flexibility to manage shifting priorities and seasonal demands. The ability to ensure high-quality, efficient work to meet donor, advisor, and nonprofit needs is paramount, alongside continual process improvement and performance tracking against KPIs. Fidelity offers a professional environment where integrity, passion, and work ethic are deeply valued, supporting a resilient, knowledgeable team navigating the world of philanthropy to make a meaningful impact.

Fidelity’s onsite working model is transitioning to full-time onsite presence, varying by location and role, while fully remote roles remain exempt. This model fosters collaboration, teamwork, and a cohesive organizational culture that supports the company’s mission and operational excellence.
