Job Description
Traders Village is a premier operator of large-scale marketplace and entertainment destinations, seamlessly blending shopping, food, rides, festivals, concerts, and community events into a vibrant customer experience. Serving hundreds of thousands of guests annually, Traders Village has established itself as a dynamic venue that thrives on the energy of its live operations and public-facing events. Known for fostering a lively atmosphere that engages vendors and customers alike, Traders Village offers a unique setting where commerce meets entertainment, creating memorable experiences that extend beyond typical marketplace shopping.
The role of Director of Marketing & Events at Traders Village is a critical leadership position responsible for spearheading the company’s comprehensive marketing strategy and event planning across multiple locations. This full-time role reports directly to the President of Traders Village and requires a multi-location operational mindset with some travel between venues. Unlike a purely digital marketing position, this role demands hands-on experience and understanding of live event operations, experiential marketing, customer behavior, vendor engagement, and the nuanced ways marketing translates into real-world attendance, revenue growth, and vendor participation.
The Director of Marketing & Events plays an instrumental role in driving attendance, enhancing customer engagement, and fostering vendor retention through coordinated marketing campaigns and flawlessly executed public events. This leader partners closely with the President, General Managers, agency partners, and local marketing teams to ensure that all marketing activities align closely with measurable business outcomes that touch every facet of the Traders Village experience—from customer traffic to vendor success. This role requires managing external agencies, developing media plans, overseeing budgets, and ensuring brand consistency across all communications. The person in this role will also be responsible for KPI definition and performance reporting to continuously track the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
Beyond strategy and planning, the Director of Marketing & Events will oversee a diverse range of channels including paid media, organic social media, CRM, e-commerce platforms, websites, public relations, earned media, and crisis communications. The role demands strong organizational leadership and communication skills with the ability to balance high-level strategic planning and ground-level practical execution. Excellence in this role is measured by tangible outcomes such as increased attendance, deeper customer engagement, vendor participation and retention, longer guest dwell times, higher revenues, enhanced local awareness, superior event execution, and consistent brand representation.
Traders Village values a collaborative and accountable environment where marketing is expected to directly support business success. The ideal candidate embraces a comprehensive view of marketing as an integration of all customer and vendor touchpoints, recognizing that vendors are not mere tenants but a core component of the marketplace’s identity and vitality. This position offers a chance to shape large-scale public experiences that truly attract and engage visitors—not just digital impressions but real-life engagement and growth. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, reflecting the diverse community Traders Village serves. Candidates with experience in entertainment, hospitality, retail, attractions, events, tourism, or other high-volume consumer environments, especially with multi-location operational experience, will find this role well-suited to their skills and ambitions.
