The Director of Marketing role at this prestigious Marriott International property is a pivotal leadership position responsible for directing all marketing strategies tied to the property's revenue and marketing objectives. This role requires a strategic partnership with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing to create annual marketing plans that meet short and long-term revenue goals. The Director of Marketing works closely with sales and revenue management teams to develop comprehensive, cross-cutting strategies that align with overall hotel goals to maximize revenue and share-of-wallet metrics. This position oversees all facets of internal and external communications, including digital presence management across property websites, third-party channels, and social media platforms, ensuring brand integrity is maintained throughout.

The role demands identifying new marketing opportunities through partnerships, third-party sites, and convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs), with a clear emphasis on analytical review and presentation of campaign performance to key stakeholders such as the General Manager, Sales and Revenue Management leadership, and ownership groups. Leadership and development of a cohesive marketing team are critical aspects, involving direct management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, and team strategy execution. The role also includes managing partnerships, overseeing agency work, and actively participating in demand generation strategies to drive business growth. Job Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Sales, or related major
  • 2 years experience in hospitality sales, spa sales or comparable professional area
  • OR 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, or related major
  • 1 year experience in hospitality sales, spa sales or comparable professional area
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Strong communication and analytical abilities
  • Experience managing digital marketing and PR campaigns
  • Ability to work collaboratively with sales and revenue teams
  • Willingness to relocate to San Diego or work onsite

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Direct the development and implementation of all marketing strategies and projects
  • Partner with Vice President of Sales and Marketing to develop annual marketing plans
  • Collaborate with sales and revenue management teams to create cross-cutting strategies
  • Oversee all internal and external communications including digital presence and social media
  • Identify and pursue incremental marketing opportunities such as partnerships and third-party sites
  • Lead and develop a marketing team including recruitment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions
  • Manage the execution of public relations strategies and digital marketing campaigns
  • Analyze marketing campaign performance and present findings to stakeholders
  • Manage OTA strategy and SEO efforts in collaboration with relevant departments
  • Coordinate content creation including photoshoots for marketing assets
  • Support group lead generation efforts and financial reconciliation with Director of Finance
