Job Description
The Director of Labor and Delivery opportunity is an exceptional leadership role at a large, mission-driven hospital known for its patient-first approach, clinical excellence, and compassionate outcomes. This hospital is a high-performing healthcare institution that is rapidly growing and innovating in the maternal care arena. They are dedicated to evidence-based practice, advanced technology, and forward-thinking leadership models. This role offers a unique chance to lead a thriving maternal care program that embraces modern innovations like virtual nursing, advanced fetal monitoring, and workflow optimization to enhance safe, family-centered births. The hospital’s commitment to quality and safety is reflected in its use of robust analytics and shared governance, empowering clinical staff to focus on delivering the best care possible in a supportive environment.
As the Director of Labor and Delivery, you will be at the helm of an integrated service line that is part of a comprehensive women’s health and maternity program. This program provides high-acuity exposure in obstetrics, perinatal, and mother-baby care, facilitated by collaborative teamwork among OB, anesthesia, and pediatrics professionals. The labor and delivery unit is strategically located near the city in a large hospital that combines the advantages of metropolitan access and the comprehensive resources of a major acute care environment. The unit prioritizes personalized, compassionate experiences for mothers and families through modern birthing suites and seamless care transitions.
In your leadership role, you will report directly to senior nursing management and be responsible for guiding a team of experienced charge nurses, educators, and interdisciplinary partners. Your influence will extend to staffing management, budget oversight, and adherence to AWHONN-aligned standards while ensuring preparedness for emergencies and compliance with maternal safety bundles and quality improvement initiatives. Working alongside a diverse team of healthcare professionals including physicians, midwives, lactation consultants, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, and therapists, you will foster a culture of open communication, Just Culture principles, and frontline-driven process improvements to enhance patient outcomes.
Located in Central Oklahoma, this position offers not just professional fulfillment but also a balanced lifestyle with a shorter commute and abundant opportunities for outdoor activities, live entertainment, and culinary exploration. The region boasts family-friendly neighborhoods, affordable housing, strong schools, and reliable transportation options including air travel connectivity. Central Oklahoma’s diversified economy includes strong healthcare, aerospace, technology, and energy sectors, supporting a resilient job market.
