Job Description
Aramark is a global leader in food services, facilities management, and uniform services, proudly serving millions of guests every day across 15 countries. Rooted in a strong commitment to service and united by a purpose to do great things for their clients, partners, communities, and planet, Aramark creates enriching experiences through its diverse set of service offerings. At the University of Michigan's Central Campus, Aramark operates several key dining and hospitality locations, including an onsite Starbucks, the Seigle Café, the Och Fitness Center, and a private hotel (Executive Learning and Conference Center - ELCC). These venues collectively serve thousands of students, faculty, and staff daily, fostering a vibrant, energetic, and engaging environment that reflects Aramark's dedication to excellent service.
The ELCC hotel, which exclusively accommodates MBA program students, Executive Education Program students, alumni, parents of students, and affiliates of the school, features 104 guest rooms. Its Executive Dining Room, located on the lower level of the hotel, is known for delivering exceptional food service—staffed by Aramark's award-winning certified executive chefs, cooks, and wait staff. The dining service focuses on enriching and nourishing guests' experiences through carefully prepared meals and attentive hospitality, creating memorable moments for all visitors.
This position is for the L2 Operations Manager II, a vital leadership role responsible for ensuring that Aramark's products and services meet or exceed customer expectations at these University of Michigan campus locations. The Operations Manager II will focus on developing team members, enhancing the quality of customer service, and implementing best practices to optimize operations across all levels. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing compliance with wage and hour laws, coordinating payroll functions, and maintaining employee records. The manager will also be tasked with recruiting, training, coaching, and counseling both management staff and frontline personnel to foster ongoing performance and development.
The Operations Manager II plays a strategic role in fostering client relationships to expand business opportunities and improve retention by conducting key business reviews and interactions with clients. This role includes analyzing business performance using data to recommend approaches that address key operational opportunities such as route sales growth optimization, pricing strategies, inventory management, waste reduction, and labor cost control.
In addition to day-to-day management responsibilities, this role also requires strong communication skills to maintain effective internal communication across all organizational levels, ensuring operational schedules are maintained, and supporting leadership on special projects. Candidates must demonstrate a high energy level, proven business growth track record, and the ability to lead in a diverse environment focused on client and guest service. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary to meet the dynamic needs of the campus operations.
Aramark is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable work environment and provides equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and other protected status. Aramark offers a workplace that supports professional growth and development, where employees can build skills, advance their careers, and contribute meaningfully to the services that enrich the lives of thousands within the University of Michigan community and beyond.
