Established with a mission rooted in service and united by purpose, Aramark operates in 15 countries, delivering quality services to diverse sectors including education, healthcare, business, and sports. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of respect, innovation, and growth for its employees, emphasizing equal employment opportunity and inclusivity across its global workforce. At the University of Michigan's Central Campus, Aramark serves thousands of students, faculty, and staff every day through multiple onsite locations such as Starbucks, Seigle Café, Och Fitness Center, and a private hotel (Executive Learning and Conference Center - ELCC) that caters exclusively to MBA students, executive education students, alumni, parents, and school affiliates. The hotel features 104 guest rooms and an Executive Dining Room with award-winning, certified executive chefs, cooks, and wait staff focused on providing excellent food service and creating memorable dining experiences.
The Director of Hotel Operations at Aramark is a vital leadership role tasked with ensuring the quality of products and services meets or exceeds customer expectations. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of leading diverse teams, driving operational excellence across all service areas within the hotel and food service venues, and implementing best practices that enhance customer satisfaction and business growth. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with wage and hour laws, managing payroll and employee records, supporting leadership with special projects, and cultivating strong client relationships to sustain and grow the business base. The Director is also responsible for conducting business reviews, analyzing operational data to optimize sales growth, pricing strategies, product inventory management, waste reduction, and labor cost control. Leadership duties focus heavily on recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and counseling management and frontline staff to promote a supportive and effective workplace culture. The role demands excellent communication skills, commitment to high service standards, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Working at Aramark offers continuous learning and development opportunities where employees can hone new skills and contribute positively to both the customer experience and company success. As the company evolves to meet changing business needs, employees may be assigned additional responsibilities that contribute to their growth and the organization's success. This employment opportunity at Aramark within the University of Michigan's vibrant campus environment provides the chance to be part of a purpose-driven organization dedicated to excellence in hospitality and operational performance. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong passion for service, leadership capability, and a strategic mindset geared toward improving operational outcomes and client satisfaction.
