Job Description
ABM is a global leader in facility services and solutions, with over a century of expertise and a commitment to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments across a broad range of industries. Established in 1909, ABM stands as one of the world’s largest providers in its sector, delivering comprehensive services that include janitorial, engineering, electrical, HVAC, parking, landscape and turf management, and critical mission solutions. The company services more than 20,000 clients worldwide and employs over 100,000 team members across 350 offices in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and other international locations. Focused on innovation and operational excellence, ABM is dedicated to enhancing the environments where people live, work, and play through sustainable practices and advanced performance solutions.
The role of Director of Grounds and Pest Control at ABM is a highly strategic and operational leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of campus grounds, landscaping, synthetic turf surfaces, pest control, waste management, and environmental sustainability programs. This is a pivotal role for an individual passionate about creating outdoor spaces that are not only aesthetically appealing but also sustainable, compliant, and safe. The Director is charged with managing a diverse team of staff and several vendors while maintaining full oversight of budgets and resources to drive high-quality service delivery. A key responsibility is to partner with internal stakeholders to align operational goals with institutional objectives in safety, sustainability, and overall operational excellence.
This position demands a visionary leader with expertise in grounds maintenance, horticulture, turf management, pest control, and waste diversion program oversight. The Director will ensure strict compliance with environmental and pest control regulations while advancing green cleaning programs that utilize environmentally friendly products and practices. Waste stream management, including landfill, recycling, and composting, is another area of focus, with efforts directed at contamination reduction, data tracking, and program expansion to promote sustainability throughout the campus environment.
In addition to operational management, the Director will support educational initiatives and collaborative projects that leverage campus landscapes as living laboratories for sustainability research and learning. This includes training staff on sustainable landscaping, integrated pest management, waste diversion protocols, and environmental compliance. Data-driven decision-making is critical, with an emphasis on tracking key performance indicators such as grounds appearance, pest control effectiveness, waste diversion metrics, safety performance, and budget adherence.
This full-time leadership role offers a competitive annual salary of $100,000 US dollars and may include eligibility for incentive or bonus programs. ABM also offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports the well-being and professional growth of its employees.
Joining ABM as Director of Grounds and Pest Control means becoming part of a forward-thinking company recognized for its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and sustainability. The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping the outdoor campus environment, ensuring it remains a safe, attractive, and sustainable space that supports the broader goals of the institution and community. The role is ideal for an experienced manager with a passion for environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and collaborative leadership.
