Job Description

Our client is an influential organization dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who positively impact the world. This establishment focuses on providing comprehensive training and support to adult volunteers guiding girls through life-enhancing experiences. Operating as a trusted and respected entity within the community, the organization is passionate about developing both girl and adult leaders. It nurtures a culture where confident, energetic self-starters thrive by communicating effectively and building meaningful connections.

The role of Director of Girl Experience and Programming (DGEP) is a pivotal leadership position within this organization. The DGEP leads the Program team with a clear emphasis on strategic development, design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality, outcomes-based programs. These programs aim to support membership retention, foster growth, and strengthen girls’ leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate for this role is creative, adaptable, and eager to make a positive impact on girls' lives by engaging them in hands-on, learn-by-doing activities. These experiences focus on increasing knowledge, developing essential skills, clarifying values, and ensuring real-world application that empowers girls to become confident and influential leaders.

As the DGEP, you will provide leadership and management to the Program team, ensuring alignment with the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) philosophy and council policies. You will establish clear expectations, foster accountability, and support ongoing coaching and professional development for staff. Working collaboratively across departments, you will cultivate corporate partnerships to support council-wide programs. Identifying funding opportunities, completing grant applications, and evaluating funder programs will be part of your responsibilities, thus playing a crucial role in securing resources for the organization’s initiatives.

Community engagement is critical to the success of this role. You will build and maintain relationships with community partners, agencies, and businesses to expand Girl Scout programs. Managing the annual program budget effectively to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals is essential. The DGEP also promotes girl and adult safety by ensuring compliance with all policies and standards related to conduct and operational procedures.

Event planning is a core aspect of this position. The DGEP leads the full cycle of council-wide events—from initial planning and strategy through logistics, budgeting, vendor relations, on-site management, marketing, and post-event analysis. This requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure. The role demands a commitment to fostering diversity, maintaining confidentiality, and promoting the Girl Scout philosophy while serving as a role model for ethical leadership.

Candidates should expect to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, and must be comfortable with travel within the council’s jurisdiction. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields, and a minimum of three years in staff supervision, project management, and event planning. Experience in community organizing, fundraising, and CRM systems like Salesforce is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media, and other web-based tools is required.

Joining this organization means becoming part of a mission-driven team committed to empowering the next generation of female leaders through innovative programming and strong community partnerships. The DGEP role offers a unique opportunity to influence lives positively while contributing to a nationally recognized movement that has shaped girls for over a century.
