The role of the Manager, Revenue Management - Function Space at Gaylord Hotels is a unique leadership opportunity focused on maximizing revenue and optimizing inventory strategy for the hotel’s function space. This full-time, remote-enabled management position is located at 1000 H St, Chula Vista, California, with an annual pay range between $102,000 and $139,000, and includes eligibility for bonuses. The manager will oversee the revenue management functions and strategic inventory processes related to function spaces. This entails leading a team of Function Space Managers to ensure optimal use of the property’s function space, thereby driving maximum group occupancy while meeting the expectations and needs of group customers. The position demands close collaboration with Group Strategy partners and Sales Managers to communicate and implement comprehensive space management strategies.

Key responsibilities include analyzing booking patterns, managing space displacement calculations, and setting profitable price points that enhance revenue and profit margins. The role also involves resolving space conflicts by developing creative solutions, reducing space utilization where possible, and monitoring post-event data to adjust contracted space allocations effectively. Continuous improvement of revenue management processes for function spaces and leveraging system relationships among sales, reservations, and property management are critical to success in this role. The manager will maintain strict audits of function space diaries to ensure accuracy and protect space allocation appropriately for groups.

Successful candidates bring a minimum of a 2-year degree with four years of relevant experience in revenue management or a related field or a 4-year bachelor's degree with two years of experience. They are skilled in strategic analysis, project management, and cross-departmental collaboration, with excellent interpersonal abilities to lead and influence teams toward sound financial decision-making and goal achievement. This role also includes human resources responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, and conducting performance appraisals to uphold high team standards. Job Duties

  • Lead effort to analyze and maximize future bookings for room block to function space ratios
  • direct activities and manage performance of Function Space Management team
  • maintain optimum use of property function space to drive maximum group occupancy while meeting customer needs
  • communicate function space strategy with Group Strategy partners and Sales Managers
  • calculate displacement of other business and set profitable price points
  • document and create solutions for bookings with space conflicts
  • act as liaison between Sales and Events/Conference Services to analyze function space usage
  • analyze space utilization on rotational/repeat groups and recommend changes
  • develop and execute annual space utilization goals
  • provide recommendations to improve revenue management processes
  • verify function space diary audits for accuracy and identify conflicts
  • drive execution of predetermined strategy
  • monitor RevPar, RevPos and function space occupancy trends
  • generate and present reports and analyses
  • lead, influence, and encourage team with integrity
