The position of Director of Front Office at Sonesta International Hotels is pivotal for the smooth functioning and success of the hotel. This role involves leading the front office team to consistently deliver on Sonesta's service promise and operational excellence. The Director of Front Office is responsible for managing all aspects of the front office, including guest registration, bell services, business center operations, telephone services, concierge services, and guest reservations. Their primary focus is to ensure high levels of guest and associate satisfaction, maintain expense controls, and uphold the quality of products and services offered.
In this leadership role, the Director of Front Office develops and implements strategies to achieve guest satisfaction goals, manages departmental staffing and training, oversees compliance with brand standards, and ensures seamless communication with other hotel departments such as Housekeeping, Sales, Marketing, and Maintenance. They also handle budgeting, revenue management, accounts receivable processes, and emergency communications, thereby contributing significantly to the hotel’s profitability and operational standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with exceptional communication skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for service excellence.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent required
- minimum five years of experience in hotel front office or related role
- previous management experience preferred
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- proficiency in hotel software systems
- strong problem-solving skills

- knowledge of local and federal laws related to hospitality operations
- capacity to handle confidential information

Job Duties
- deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients
- manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates
- direct day-to-day operations and assignments of the front office staff
- recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions
- ensure all staff are properly trained with tools to effectively carry out job functions
- implement service recovery guidelines for guest satisfaction
- analyze guest satisfaction data and develop plans to meet goals
- conduct routine inspections of front office and public areas and develop action plans
- achieve budgeted revenues, control labor costs and expenses, and maximize profitability
- establish, implement, and maintain training and procedures for PBX for emergency communications
- manage front office and reservation functions ensuring security of guest information
- manage all approvals, billing, and collections of hotel’s accounts receivables
- prepare month-end financial reports
- work with housekeeping and laundry to ensure compliance with quality and brand standards
- ensure guest rooms and public areas meet brand standards
- manage and report on department expenses
- promote teamwork and quality service through communication with other hotel departments
- purchase and requisition inventory for adequate stocks
- manage human resources and benefits programs within the front office
- manage IT hardware and software in the front office
- manage purchasing of supplies and analyze hotel spending for efficiencies
- respond to guest complaints promptly and professionally
- enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures within operations
- act as manager on duty as required
- regularly sell hotel rooms through direct client contact
- ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol laws
- perform other duties as assigned
